Southwest Durango Hotel Resort & Casino Is Underway

Updated: Apr 25, 2023

The Durango Hotel Resort & Casino is expected to open during the fourth quarter of 2023.

The Station Casinos in Las Vegas and Henderson have been the entertainment hubs for every local resident around the areas of each casino. Oftentimes they are used as a point of reference to where someone lives within the city of Las Vegas or Henderson. Throughout the years, Station had a few setbacks such as the Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2009 but then returning to the stock market in 2015 with an initial public offering. In March of 2020, the Fiesta Henderson, Fiesta Rancho and Texas Station casinos remained closed after Governor Steve Sisolak ordered the temporary shutdown of businesses to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

After the demolition announcement of the 3 casinos, it became more apparent as to what the next moves were going to be under the lead of the parent company Red Rock Resorts. 126 acres at the southwest corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Cactus Avenue was purchased for $172.4 million dollars and the plans are as solid as the money vault in the Bellagio. All of the signs are looking good with the 2.73% population increase over the last 2 years along with the other new tourist attractions such as the successful Allegiant Stadium and the upcoming MSG Sphere. During the Red Rock Resort’s second quarter earnings call, Frank Fertitta III, the casino chain’s top brass, told investors “they expect to basically double the size of the portfolio by 2030.”

To add to the major Las Vegas Developments, Station’s new $750 million Durango Hotel Resort and Casino, located on Durango Drive near the 215 Beltway is raising excitement for all of the locals. Workers have already placed the final steel beam on the last floor of the 15-story, 216-foot hotel tower. Adding glass on the building’s exterior and furnishing the property’s interior will be the next step. Once complete, Stations expects to employ over 1,500 people in the 83,000 sqft casino.

There will be 211 hotel rooms, four unique restaurants, a collection of bars and lounges, and an 11 unit food court. The property will also have convention and meeting spaces, a resort-style pool and close to 4,200 parking spaces with dozens of electric vehicle charging stations.
